Hello and welcome to my website, The Commute Sports! The averages fan’s home for sports data visualizations and analysis.
Why I started The Commute Sports:
I’ve been a sports fan my entire life, but like most people was nowhere near talented enough to play professionally or in college. As a Data Analyst by day, the emergence of data analysis and analytics in sports has always been an interest of mine. After some thought, I decided to start posting the projects I work on in my free time and thus the creation of The Commute Sports.
What to expect:
The Commute Sports is for just that, a sports website for the commute to work (or any other breaks you have in the day). My articles are a short read (less than 500 words) and the graphics are easy to understand. So often you need a minor in statistics just to understand some of the analytics that gets posted these days and thats not how it should be.
A little bit about myself:
I have a M.A. and B.S. in Economics and a minor in Statistics.
I am a Data Scientist in “the real world”.
I use mostly Tableau and Python for my visualizations here and on Instagram. However, on Twitter I use almost exclusively Python for visualizations as it is much quicker than Tableau. Python and R are used for my analysis and data manipulation.
